Whether your cake is for a wedding, birthday or other celebration the last thing you want is to find you don’t have enough cake to go round to all of your guests! The guide below gives you approximate servings for round and square cakes. If you are unsure of the size of the portions (or cakes) you would like, I am more than happy to help suggest the best size for your event.
Cake Portions
All of my cakes are approximately 5 inches high and consist of three or four layers of cake and two or three layers of filling (with the exception of fruit cakes and the 6 layer Rainbow cake). The number of portions given on the guide below are based on the following dimensions:
• Finger/Coffee Size: 1 inch x 1 inch x 5 inches (Generally a Wedding portion)
• Dessert Size: 2 inches x 1 inch x 5 inches (home party size 😊)
Rich fruit cakes are traditionally cut into coffee/finger size portions measuring 1 x 1 x 4″….unless you visit my house, we love Classic fruit cake! 😊
Cake Portion Chart
The tables below give a rough guide to the number of portions you can cut from round or square cakes of various sizes. The number of portions given on the chart is only intended as a guide as actual quantities may vary depending on the person cutting your cake. This chart shows cakes which are 3.5 inches high, mine are generally 5”.
